I’ve always been captivated by traditional Hawaiian Hula dance. Its something that I have longed to explore further, as luck would have it, life recently handed me that opportunity when I received an invitation from Aloha Hula NSW to work with them on this photo session.

Hula is a Polynesian dance form accompanied by chant or song. There is a strong storytelling aspect of Hula dancing with hand motions used to represent the words in a song or chant.

Aloha Hula is based in my home of the Byron Shire and shares Polynesian culture tradition and dance with the local community. You can find more information on their events and classes at the Aloha Hula NSW facebook page. I’m excited to have been invited to take some hula classes, and I’ll be getting my hula on soon!

Thank you Anna, Gisela, Kate, Mikky and Tāne, it was an absolute pleasure creating with you.
