4 coastal spots to visit near Byron Bay
1. Little Wategos
My favourite spot is only a roll down the hill from the lighthouse. It’s a beautiful little private beach complete with a grassy tree shaded cove which gets the most beautiful morning and evening light. Nearby is the rocky embankment famous for being Australia's most easterly point.
This is one of my favorite places to photograph and generally just to ‘be’. When I first moved to Byron Bay, Little Wategos is where I spent my first sunset as a new resident, looking out over the water and letting the fact that I now live in paradise sink in!
2. Billinudgel Nature Reserve
Billinudgel Nature Reserve is about 30 minutes from Byron. It’s beach is a long and often empty stretch of pristine Australian coastline. I live nearby to this beach and walk along it each morning. This is how I discovered a gorgeous little grassed shady pocket adjacent to the water which makes for a stunning photoshoot location and a heavenly place to spend the afternoon with a picnic blanket, guitar and your favorite person.
3. Whites beach
This one is a bit of a locals secret spot so I hope I am not breaking any hearts by sharing this! Whites beach is a little bit out of the way, tucked into the headland just south of Byron Bay. You can access it by a dirt road, however my favourite way to get there is a short and picturesque walking trail from the broken head caravan park. This walk also leads you past another gorgeous beach and the iconic three sister rocks.
4. Broken Head
Broken head is a nice close distance to Byron Bay while still being away from the hustles and bustle of town. It's a popular spot for surfers, and there are some great shady spots to set up for the day in the scrub lands near the water. Oh it's also a great place to take some family portraits!
There are plenty more amazing coastal spots so I may need to do a part 2 to this one! In the meantime, you can I’ve also shared some of my favourite inland spots in my blog waterfalls to visit near Byron Bay
