Van Life: Family Session
Over the last month I’ve made some big changes in my life, shifting my home to primarily Brisbane so that I can spend more time with my partner and his two beautiful boys. I have to admit, the Northern Rivers holds a big piece of my heart and I don’t think that will ever change. I’m always keen for a chance to head back down south for photo sessions and some time in nature.
So when I was contacted by Briony asking for a portrait session for herself and her son Finn in Brunswick Heads, I couldn’t wait to get in some beach and river time. Briony and Finn have been travelling in a van up the East Coast of Australia for most of the the year. As a past (and hopefully future) van owner, spending a year exploring the Australian coastline in a van with the one you love sounds like my idea of paradise. So I was excited to meet these two adventurers and capture some special moments to commemorate the end of their adventure.
At the start of the session Finn was keen to show me his toy Dolfin which they picked up during their travels, and Briony explained to me that they’d had quite a few dolfin sighting during their journey and its always pretty special for them. So when we came across some dolfins playing in the river towards the end of our session, it felt like we’d been blessed with a touch of magic.
This turned out to be one of my absolute favourite portrait sessions and I found it hard to narrow it down to just my favourite images to share with you, but I’ve done my best…
