Easter Bunny Hunt
This easter I decided to create an Easter egg hunt for the kids that was not only fun but also allowed me to capture some beautiful candid shots of them.
The Easter egg hunt was a bit different from the ones we've had in the past. I decided to make it more challenging for the kids by creating a series of clues that would lead them around the house to eventually find their chocolate bunny. It was a bit of a challenge to come up with clues (it took me about an hour to set this hunt up and about 15 minutes for them to complete it!) but they had a great time and it was well worth it.
Warning: real world post ahead you will see images in our messy school holiday-ravaged home!
The first clue was "To start your quest you must beat the drum and let the rhythm lead you to clue number 1". They ran down to the music room to find the clue in the drum kit (I could barely keep up!)
The second clue was a easy for them, "Our fluffy friend with a bushy tail and big brown eyes that never fail. Look high and low in every nook and when you find him take a closer look" This led them to our dog Crumpet who had the clue attached to his collar.
The third clue was 'Where black and white are in constant fight. The next clue is hidden out of sight" This was my best clue as it had them stumped! They eventually figured out it was hidden in the chess board.
"Among the spines you’ll find your surprise. A title starting with the fourth letter of the alphabet is where your clue lies" They pretty quickly figured out that this clue was hidden ain a book. The clue was in a book called Deltora Quest, which they eventually found after searching through many books.
"The next clue is waiting where the world is round, where continents meet, and countries abound". This one was a bit easier for them to figure out, and they quickly found it on our globe.
The next clue was "Where work and play meet in a bright display a clue is waiting to see the light of day". This was was pretty challenging for them to find, but after some head scratching they eventually figured out it in the laptop.
The sixth clue was too easy, "Inside a machine that spins and whirls your next clue twirls " It took them only seconds to figure out it was in our washing machine.
Finally, the last clue "Congratulations on your journey so far! Now it's time to find your chocolate bar. You’ll find it where things bloom and amongst the leaves that we consume." This led them outside to the veggie plot where they found their chocolate bunny.
The hunt was a success and the kids loved it. It was fun to watch them work together and solve the clues, AND it was also a great opportunity for me to capture some beautiful candid shots of them.
Feel free to use these clues and adapt them to your home. I hope this inspires you to try something different this Easter with your kids. It doesn't have to be elaborate or fancy, but it can be a fun way to create memories and capture some candid shots of your family. Just remember, it's not about the perfect shots or the perfect hunt, but about spending time with your loved ones and creating memories that will last a lifetime. Happy Easter!
